Siemens Enters South African Wind Energy Market

Siemens Energy has entered the South African wind energy market by securing an order for the 138 MW Jeffrey's Bay wind project.

The order - which was made by a consortium consisting of Mainstream Renewable Power Ltd., its investment partner Globeleq, Thebe Investment Corp., Enzani Technologies and Usizo Engineering - is for 60 of Siemens' 2.3 MW wind turbines, which have a rotor diameter of 101 meters. Siemens will also service the wind turbines over an initial period of 10 years.
