Firetrace, a provider of fire-protection solutions, says it has been selected by Vestas as its primary supplier of automatic fire-suppression systems in the U.S. and Canada.

The automatic fire-suppression solutions are available through Vestas as an option for new wind turbine purchases or through the Vestas sales team as an additional safety feature on existing fleets.

Firetrace says its system uses linear pneumatic detection tubing that can be routed throughout the equipment, thus ensuring immediate detection and suppression at the source of the fire, the company explains. The system is automatic and requires no external power, providing uninterrupted protection even in the most remote locations.

The automatic fire-suppression systems can be installed on new or existing wind turbines and can be integrated into the unit for immediate shutdown of the turbine upon detection and discharge of the automatic fire-suppression system, the company adds.
