A new coalition has been formed to promote the wind energy industry and its role in cultivating jobs and revitalizing manufacturing.

Called the Red State Renewable Alliance, the group's mission is to tell the full story of the success of wind energy in traditionally conservative areas of the country and emphasize the importance of incorporating this resource as a part of an "all of the above" energy strategy in the U.S.

The alliance will work to extend the wind energy production tax credit (PTC) in order to save wind industry jobs, many of which are located in traditionally conservative congressional districts.

John Feehery, a Republican strategist and former spokesperson for Speaker of the House Dennis Hastert and Majority Whip Tom DeLay, is executive director of the new coalition. He says he believes strongly in wind power as a key component of U.S. energy independence.

“Studies show that the wind energy production tax credit pays for itself, cuts utility costs for consumers - and we all know that it is a clean energy resource,” Feehery says. “We at the Red State Renewable Alliance will tell the story of wind energy and the wind PTC in new and innovative ways, and we will convert the doubters out there.”
