Stantec, a provider of professional consulting services for industries such as the wind energy sector, has appointed Jim Gilbert as a senior principal in the firm's Portland, Ore., power practice.

Gilbert has extensive expertise in the planning and project development of wind, solar, biomass, natural-gas and thermal power projects. In this leadership role, Gilbert will be responsible for pursuing and executing large-scale project work with allied company teams across North America.

Prior to joining Stantec, Gilbert served as managing director for an electric utility’s technical services group. While there, Gilbert led his team to develop over 4.7 GW of wind and 100 MW of solar generation projects that are now in operation throughout the U.S.
