The city of Palo Alto, Calif., is seeking proposals from qualified firms to provide electric power generated by new renewable resources to meet the city's renewable portfolio and Palo Alto Green renewable retail program needs. Renewable electric power under the RFP includes but is not limited to bundled electric energy, capacity and environmental attributes.

The city says the contracts will be for up to 220 GWh per year (average 25 MW) of renewable electric power for terms of five years to 30 years from any eligible renewable resource. In addition, the city will contract for up to an additional 60 GWh per year (average 7 MW) of either renewable electric power or renewable energy credits for terms of three years to five years from wind and solar resources only.

Projects in California must have come online on or after Jan. 1, 1997, and projects outside California must have come online after Jan. 1, 2005. Finalists will be identified on Sept. 18.
