North American Windpower: Power Climber Wind Receives Patent For Climb-Assist System

The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office has awarded Power Climber Wind a patent for its IBEX climb-assist system, the company has announced.

According to Power Climber Wind, the wireless EasyClimb Controller allows IBEX users to select their own assistance settings from 50 pounds to 125 pounds, and provides constant load support in both the up and down directions, regardless of climbing speed.

“The closed-loop control system makes it so the IBEX responds to the climber, rather than the other way around,” notes Gregory Crew, the company’s director of global wind product management.
