DOE Seeking Comment On Guide For Large-Scale Renewable Energy Project Development

The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) has published a new guide for large-scale renewable energy project development.

The resource, called Federal Renewable Energy Guide: Developing Large-Scale Renewable Energy Projects at Federal Facilities Using Private Capital, is now available in the Federal Register for industry and agency comment.

The DOE says the guide provides a project development framework to help federal agencies, private developers and financiers coordinate on large-scale renewable energy projects that will help achieve federal renewable energy goals.

In addition to providing a development framework to speed the deployment of renewable energy, the guide is intended to be a general resource that will advance federal employees' understanding of project developer operations and improve industry's understanding of federal processes.

Because the majority of the investment required to implement large-scale renewable energy projects will come from the private sector, the guide has been organized to match federal processes with typical phases of commercial project development, the DOE explains.

The document is available on the Federal Register website and is open to public comment until July 2.
