Suzlon Bids For REpower Shares

Suzlon Wind Energy, a subsidiary of Denmark-based Suzlon Energy A/S, has made an offer to purchase the shares in REpower Systems AG, a wind turbine manufacturer based out of Germany.

The company made a cash offer of 126 euros per share, which is equivalent to 1.02 million euros, Suzlon says. According to a statement from REpower, the company's board is "at present not yet in the position to comment on the offer made by Suzlon Windenergie GmbH, especially with regard to its implication for employees, company sites or customers."

AREVA Group SA has issued a cash offer to REpower for the shares it does not already own for 105 euros per share, which equals 850 million euros. AREVA is the largest single shareholder of REpower, the company adds.
