Carpinteria, Calif.-based Clipper Windpower PLC has recently signed a contract with a subsidiary of UPC Wind, a Newton, Mass.-headquartered wind power producer, for the supply of 125 MW of Clipper wind turbines for projects developed in the northeastern U.S. in 2007. Under the terms of the agreement, Clipper will deliver 50 of its 2.5 MW Liberty wind turbines - including wind turbine installation supervision - and provide operations and maintenance services for a period of five years.

According to the companies, this contract marks the second sales and service transaction completed between Clipper and UPC Wind. Clipper has made commitments of 495 MW of Liberty turbines this year - including this new agreement and three others.

The 2.5 MW Liberty machines will be produced at Clipper's assembly facilities in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
