The American Wind Energy Association's (AWEA) WINDPOWER Conference and Exhibition attracted 11,000 participants this year - down from last year's attendance of just over 16,000, AWEA reports.

This year's event, held June 3-6 in Atlanta, also featured 920 exhibitors.

"We met our expectations for our first entry into the South, with tremendous response from members of the business community who were not aware how much 'skin in the game' the South has, with 90 manufacturing facilities in wind," notes Denise Bode, AWEA’s CEO.

Next year’s WINDPOWER show will be held in Chicago from May 5-8.
