Vestas says it has signed an agreement to provide 22 of its V100-1.8 MW wind turbines for the Alba Rivas wind power plant, which will be located in Hacienda La Fe, Rivas, Nicaragua.

The 39.6 MW order was placed by Alba de Nicaragua SA (Albanisa), a private company that specializes in energy generation, security services, hotels, livestock breeding, transportation, loans, port cargo handling and gas distribution.

The contract comprises the supply and commissioning of the turbines, a VestasOnline Business SCADA system, and a five-year service and maintenance agreement.

Delivery of the first turbines is expected to start in the fourth quarter, and the project is expected to enter commercial operation in the second quarter of 2013.

This is not the company’s first involvement in a project in Nicaragua. Last September, Vestas received a 39.6 MW order for the La Fe - San Martin Wind Farm (also located in Nicaragua) which is expected to be connected to the grid this month.
