ACCIONA has announced that its Big Smile Wind Farm at Dempsey Ridge - formerly named the Dempsey Ridge Wind Farm - has started commercial operation in Oklahoma.

The company says the project was renamed in memory of one of its colleagues, Jennifer Koop-Krass. In her role as director of energy marketing at ACCIONA Energy North America, Koop-Krass was one of the company's earliest employees upon its entry into the North American market. She passed away after a courageous battle with ovarian cancer in 2011.

The 132 MW wind farm is located across 10,888 acres in Oklahoma's Roger Mills and Beckham Counties. Last year, ACCIONA completed the installation of the 66 wind turbines that make up the new facility. They have been powered up and gradually connected to the grid, and have now reached full commercial operation.
