Anne Forbes, executive director of the Wind Energy Institute of Canada (WEICan), has resigned in order to allow the organization to move on to its next stage of growth.

According to WEICan, Forbes was hired in July 2006 to oversee the organization's initial development, which included selection of key personnel, the redefinition of WEICan's strategy and mission, the implementation of new policies, the development of the board of directors and construction of a new head office and workshops.

With that process mostly complete, WEICan says Forbes felt the time was right to move on in order to allow the board to recruit a new executive director with a desire to take WEICan to the next stage. While WEICan searches for a new executive director, Richard Hassard, chair of the board, will be acting executive director.
