At its annual general meeting, Germany-based turbine manufacturer REpower Systems AG named Tulsi R. Tanti chairman of the supervisory board.

Tanti, who is also chairman of Indian wind turbine manufacturer Suzlon, succeeds Bertrand Durrande of AREVA S.A., who had served as chairman of the supervisory board since February 2006. Durrande will now hold the position of vice chairman of the supervisory board.

Following its recent successful takeover bid, Suzlon now controls 87% of the REpower voting rights, REpower Systems AG explains. As a result, the incorporation of the Suzlon Group by Tanti is expected to make a considerable contribution to the company's sustainable growth, as well as to securing German sites and jobs in the long term.
