The Snohomish County Public Utility District (PUD) has signed a contract to purchase wind energy from the new White Creek Wind Project, located in south central Washington along the Columbia River Gorge. The utility will receive 10% of the project's output, about 7 average-MW, starting in January 2008, the company says.

"This wind power purchase is consistent with our commitment to a diverse portfolio of clean, renewable resources," notes Steve Klein, PUD's general manager. "The Columbia Gorge is a good location to site new wind facilities because of strong winds in the area."
