Ventus Energy Inc. recently announced that it entered into turbine supply agreements with the Vestas Group for the supply of 11V80 1.8-MW wind turbines and an additional 44 V80 1.8-MW wind turbines, subject to the successful test of the first 11 units at the West Cape Wind Park in Prince Edward Island (PEI).
Ventus Energy also ordered three V90 3-MW wind turbines for the Norway Wind Park, which is also located in PEI. Both of these wind farms are controlled 100% by Ventus Energy Inc. Construction of both new facilities is expected to begin shortly.
Vestas will supply, erect and commission the wind turbines for the projects as well as provide warranty, maintenance and service support for a five-year period. Shipment of the wind turbines will begin in early 2007. The second phase of the West Cape Wind Park is planned for 2008.
In a separate transaction, Vestas received an order for 30 units of the V80 1.8-MW wind turbine for the Kettles Hill project near Pincher Creek, Alberta. The wind turbines are part of an expansion phase of the Kettles Hill project, where Vestas has already installed five V80 turbines that have been in commercial operation since March.
The wind power plant will be owned by Kettles Hill Wind Energy Inc., which is a company controlled by Creststreet Kettles Hill Windpower LP of Toronto, Ontario. Vestas will supply and commission the wind turbines for the project, as well as provide maintenance and service support for a five-year period. Shipment of the wind turbines will begin in late 2006.
