Newtown, Mass.-headquartered UPC Wind Management LLC has selected Yarmouth, Maine-based DeLorme's XMap GIS software to help UPC locate potential wind farm sites. By integrating existing GIS data layers, UPC technicians can compile a more complete picture of a potential site, with layers such as property ownership, wind patterns and land cover, DeLorme says.

"XMap is ideally suited to our workflow," says Chris Caffyn, UPC's development manager. "It offers the right combination of mapping tools and is straightforward enough that all of our staff can use it."
