Minnesota Power, an energy services provider and affiliate of ALLETE, has ordered 10 2.5 MW Liberty wind turbines from Carpinteria, Calif.-based Clipper Windpower PLC, a wind turbine developer and manufacturer. The turbines will be used for Minnesota Power's first wind farm, located within the Iron Range Laurentian Divide in northern Minnesota.

The wind turbines, which will be built at Clipper's manufacturing facility in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, are scheduled to be delivered this year. According to the companies, Clipper will provide installation supervision, and operation and maintenance services.
