Noble Environmental Power, an Essex, Conn.-based wind energy developer, has been selected by the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) to provide renewable energy to New York state consumers.
Five Noble wind farms were selected from a field of 61 proposals submitted to NYSERDA in response to the authority's request for proposals as part of New York's renewable portfolio standard, which strives to have 25% of the power consumed by New Yorkers come from renewable energy by 2013.
Noble has contracted with NYSERDA to receive production incentives over the next 10 years in exchange for the environmental attributes produced by the company's Altona, Clinton and Ellenburg Windparks in Clinton County, N.Y., as well as the Chateaugay Windpark in Franklin County, N.Y., and the Bliss Windpark in Wyoming County, N.Y. These five new wind farms represent 511 MW of energy and are expected to be completed in 2007, the company says.
