In March, Nova Scotia Power, a Halifax, Nova Scotia-headquartered electric utility, issued a request for proposals (RFP) for 130 MW of renewable energy - including wind - by the end of 2009. Shear Wind Inc. of Halifax has now announced its intent to submit proposals to meet Nova Scotia Power's request.

According to Shear Wind, the company will submit proposals for wind energy generation at its site in Nova Scotia where the wind resource has been monitored.

"We are very excited about seeing this project come together, as we believe our site to have a significant wind resource - resulting in a very favorable capacity factor," says Ian Tillard, Shear Wind's chief operating officer. "The location is ideally situated on a land base with constructability of up to a 100 MW potential."
