Iberdrola's Shareholders Accept Merger Agreement With ScottishPower

Shareholders of Iberdrola, a Spain-headquartered electric utility and wind power developer, recently gave their endorsement for the merger agreement with ScottishPower, an international energy company.

In November 2006, Iberdrola and ScottishPower came to an agreement whereby Iberdrola will take over ScottishPower for more than 17 billion euros. (See "Iberdrola Reaches Merger Agreement With ScottishPower.") According to Iberdrola's shareholders, who approved the agreement at their annual meeting in Bilboa, the merger is pending Scottishpower's approval - ScottishPower's shareholders are scheduled to meet today in Glasgow.
