The deal involves orders for 204 Acciona Windpower AW 70/1500 1.5 MW wind turbines, which will be manufactured in the second half of this year. The wind projects, awarded through Mexico's Federal Electricity Commission's call for tenders, will be located in the Isthmus of Mexico's Tehuantepec region.
Construction on the three facilities is expected to get under way in the second half of this year. Commercial operation of the parks is scheduled for December 2011.
Because Mexico is eligible for the Kyoto Protocol's clean development mechanisms, the new projects will be able to obtain and sell emission-reduction certificates.
