A group of international energy companies are joining forces to bring older, underperforming 660 kW wind turbines up to contemporary technology and profitability, according to the North American Wind Service Alliance.
TM4, WindGen America and ATI-Eolien are working to develop the Hybrid4, a permanent magnet synchronous generator that is expected to provide a better annual yield, reduced maintenance costs and increased profitability.
These units are designed specifically to provide more power at lower wind speeds and less stress on older wind turbine gearboxes, utilizing an economical plug-and-play installation.
