Manitowoc Crane Group (MCG) of Manitowoc, Wis., has introduced the Grove GTK1100 crane for the assembly and maintenance of wind turbines.

The crane’s design maximizes lifting capacity while offering a lower cost of operation when compared to existing technologies, the company says. It includes a wheeled mobile carrier with a telescopic mast and a luffing telescopic boom at its top. Fully extended, the Grove GTK1100 crane will have a hook height of more than 140 meters. Final specifications have yet to be confirmed, but initial tests suggest the crane will lift loads of more than 70 tons higher than 120 meters, the company adds.

MCG expects to start delivery of the crane in 2007. For more information, contact the company at (920) 684-6621.
