Southern California Edison (SCE), a Rosemead, Calif.-based electric utility, has issued a request for proposals (RFP) for long-term contracts with renewable energy project developers. The company is soliciting 10-, 15- or 20-year contracts for solar, wind, biomass, geothermal and small-hydro energy projects.

"We are once again in the market offering long-term contracts to companies developing renewable power projects to serve our customers," says Pedro Pizarro, SCE's senior vice president of power procurement.

In 2006, SCE delivered 12.6 billion kWh of renewable energy, which includes 2.45 billion kWh of wind, the company adds. For more information on the proposals, which are due by May 2007, visit sce.com.
