Broomfield, Colo.-headquartered WhiteWave Foods Co. (WWFC), maker of Horizon Organic and Silk Soymilk, has agreed to purchase enough green tags from the Bonneville Environmental Foundation (BEF) to cover the energy used to power the Anaheim Convention Center and host staff hotel rooms for the Expo West trade show.

This agreement represents the second year WWFC has helped green Expo West, the company says. With the purchase, totaling 690 MWh of wind energy, WWFC will offset more than 483 tons of carbon dioxide emissions.

Also through its partnership with BEF, WWFC currently uses wind energy to offset 100% of the power used in the production of Silk and Horizon Organic products, as well as all the energy used at its corporate headquarters, the company adds. To date, its wind energy purchases total 153,000 MWh.
