Northland Power Income Fund and Hydro-Quebec have signed a long-term power purchase agreement (PPA) for the 127.5 MW Jardin d'Eole wind farm project near Matane, Quebec.

Northland Power will sell electricity to Hydro-Quebec under a 20-year PPA, which followed the 2003 Hydro-Quebec call for tenders for wind power. The project, which features 85 GE 1.5 MW turbines, will also receive a portion of the federal EcoEnergy incentive for wind power for 10 years.

The wind turbine towers and nacelles were supplied to GE from the Marmen Energie facility in Matane, the nacelle shells were also fabricated in Matane at VCI Composites and the blades were manufactured for GE by LM Glasfibre at its factory in Gaspe, Quebec.
