Mike Brown, a member of the provincial parliament for Algoma-Manitoulin, Ontario, has announced that the province is investing $25,000 in a wind resource assessment study on wind powered energy for use by farmers in the township of Tarbutt and Tarbutt Additional.

The study will determine if there is enough wind to substantiate the purchase of wind powered turbine generators for six farmers in the area, Brown says. Funds will be used for necessary permits, a 60-meter test tower with an appropriate data collection system, installation and servicing costs.

"I am pleased that the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation has approved this application," says Brown. "This project has real potential for the township."
