On March 6, a wind turbine at the Noble Altona Windpark in Altona, N.Y., collapsed, resulting in a small fire. Noble Environmental Power's CEO, Walt Howard, has been to the site and has met with Noble's on-site team. The site of the incident continues to be secure, and the fire has been extinguished.

The Noble Windpark remains shut, pending further information.

"I am pleased with the quick response of the Noble team," says Howard. "They secured the site and accounted for all Noble employees in a manner that is consistent with our stringent safety policy. I am also grateful to the fire department for its swift response."

The Noble Altona Windpark utilizes 1.5 MW GE SLE turbines. Currently, there are more than 12,000 GE 1.5 MW turbines installed across the globe, according to Noble.

At this time, GE and Noble are working together to analyze the cause of the incident. According to Noble, it could take several months to reach a final conclusion. The company says it will provide more information as it becomes available.
