In late August, the Wyoming-Colorado Intertie (WCI) project reported the successful results of its open season capacity auction for firm transmission rights for a new 345 kV line that would link Wyoming with Colorado. Duke Energy Ohio Inc. and GreenHunter Wind LLC were awarded a total of 585 MW of capacity on the WCI line, or about 70% of the line's full capacity.

The remaining unsold capacity - 265 MW - is now being made available on an application basis in conformity with the WCI open access transmission tariff that is posted on the WCI Web site.

Qualified applicants will be awarded capacity at the posted minimum price after a posting period of 30 days following the submission of a completed application, unless applications exceed the 265 MW available, which will trigger an auction process.
