Puget Sound Energy Announces Renewable Energy Production Incentive Program

Puget Sound Energy (PSE), a Bellevue, Wash.-headquartered energy utility, has announced its Renewable Production Incentive Program (REAP) that provides annual incentive payments to its customers who generate renewable power.

PSE's REAP program is the result of a recently implemented Washington law, Initiative 937, to provide financial incentives to encourage the in-state manufacture and installation of renewable energy systems. PSE's customers who generate their own electricity with solar, wind or anaerobic-digester systems can receive 15 cents to 54 cents from the utility for each kilowatt hour their systems generate - up to a limit of $2,000 annually beginning this year.

According to PSE, the program's annual payments are available through 2014 to both customers with existing systems and customers who install new systems. To qualify, customers need to have an interconnection agreement with PSE.
