Liberty Lake, Wash.-based Raycap Inc. has received approval from Underwriters Laboratories (UL) to mark its Strikesorb 40 millimeter (mm) and 80 mm surge protection device (SPD) modules as UL 1449 3rd Edition Safety Standard certified.

Raycap says the Strikesorb modules met the UL 1449 3rd Edition Safety Standard's intermediate current abnormal overvoltage test by conducting current at 1000A for seven hours, without disconnecting from the circuit. The SPD module also received a nominal discharge current test rating of 20 kA.
