Dallas-based Shermco Industries has unveiled a 660 kW wind energy generator, built by Leroy-Somer as an after-market replacement for the Vestas V-47 wind turbine.

Shipped directly from the factory in Beaucourt, France, the generator has been tested at 60 Hertz and 3,000 revolutions per minute over speed for two minutes. It includes glass-over-film wire, two VPI treatments, form-wound rotor and class-H insulation.

"The extended life and reliability of this new design will be greatly appreciated by those in the industry," says Chris Perry, sales manager of Shermco's apparatus service division. "Its design will reduce maintenance costs over the lifetime of the unit."
