Nova Scotia Wind Farm Project Cancelled

Black River Wind Ltd., a Nova Scotia-based wind power producer, has announced that its 6 MW project that was scheduled to be built in Inverness, Cape Breton and Pictou counties has been cancelled by Nova Scotia Power Inc. (NSPI), a subsidiary of Emera.

According to Black River Wind, the approximately $14 million project had received all of its federal and provincial approvals and was ready for construction, which was planned for completion by mid-2007.

"NSPI cancelled this $14 million dollar wind project in a disagreement over of the amount of a bond deposited to NSPI by Black River Wind," says Neal Livingston, Black River Wind's president. "We disagree completely with the cancellation of these contracts."

Black River Wind adds that the company is considering legal action over the cancellation of the project.
