Vancouver, B.C.-based BC Hydro has issued a request for proposals (RFP) to encourage the development of clean or renewable energy alternatives.

The RFP will target up to 5,000 GWh of renewable energy per year from larger projects using proven technologies, such as hydro, wind, solar and geothermal energy. The structured RFP will be a competitive process involving independent power producers across the province.

To participate, a power facility would have to meet the province's guidelines for clean or renewable electricity. Awarded electricity purchase agreements will be filed with the British Columbia Utilities Commission.

Deadline: Nov. 25.
