Alta, Wyo.-based Grand Targhee Resort has committed to offset 100% of its energy use by purchasing 10,500 MWh of renewable energy certificates over the next three years through a partnership with the Bonneville Environmental Foundation's (BEF) SkiGreen program.

BEF is a nonprofit organization that reinvests all the net revenues from renewable energy certificate sales to help fund solar power systems for schools and businesses, and wind power systems for farms and ranches. Through SkiGreen, a partnership between BEF and participants in the snow-sports industry, the resort will increase its commitment to green energy by nearly 75% from its previous agreement. This new agreement will help the resort reach its goal of incorporating environmentally sustainable practices into every aspect of its operations, the company says.

"Supporting 100% green power makes Grand Targhee part of a growing number of resorts that support this level of renewable energy and demonstrates the industry's leadership in the prevention of climate-altering emissions," says Patrick Nye of BEF.
