Nova Scotia Power has signed a long-term agreement with RMSenergy for wind farms in Pictou and Antigonish counties.

The wind farm in Pictou County will be located on Dalhousie Mountain. Visible from the Trans-Canada highway, the project will consist of 34 turbines with a total nameplate capacity of 51 MW. The other project will be located near Maryvale and is expected to include up to four turbines with a nameplate capacity of 6 MW.

"We are implementing a business strategy that will take us to a cleaner, greener future - for Nova Scotia Power and for our customers," says Ralph Tedesco, president and CEO of Nova Scotia Power. "Wind farms like the ones at Dalhousie Mountain and Maryvale are part of our plan to increase the amount of energy produced from wind in Nova Scotia by 500 percent between now and 2010."
