North American Windpower: Shear Wind, Vindt Resources in Alberta Project JV

Nova Scotia-headquartered Shear Wind Inc. and Vindt Resources Inc., an energy resource development and management company, have established a joint venture to develop the Coyote Ridge Wind Park Project, a wind farm consisting of 100 2 MW wind turbines located outside Lethbridge, Alberta.

The turbines will be erected on an area of 13,500 acres, Shear Wind says. An initial assessment prepared by Phoenix Engineering indicates a long-term predicted energy yield of approximately 700 GWh per annum.

"We are extremely pleased with the results of this 12-month property assessment and the potential energy to be harnessed in a wind park of such magnitude," says Mike Magnus, Shear Wind's president. "Furthermore, we are particularly excited about having Vindt as a joint venture partner in the development of Coyote Ridge Wind Park."

The Coyote Ridge venture represents a step toward reaching Shear Wind's expansion goals in the U.S. and Canadian markets.
