Wind Supporter Wins Massachusetts Primary

Deval Patrick was victorious in the recent Massachusetts Democratic primary - receiving 50% of the statewide vote. According to Cape Wind, which is proposing to build the country's first offshore wind farm in Nantucket Sound, he is an avid supporter of the project.

Patrick won every county in Massachusetts and every state senate district, as well as the state's major cities such as Boston, Springfield and Worcester, in the three-way race. He beat Chris Gabrieli, who came in second place and Attorney General Tom Reilly, who finished in third. Since Cape Wind is looking for government support, Patrick would be a great help in implementing the offshore project, which consists of 130 wind turbines that would produce 420 MW of renewable energy, Cape Wind adds.
