Wind energy contractor Mortenson Construction has decided to purchase renewable energy credits (RECs) through Community Energy Inc. corresponding to 100% of its electricity use for its national headquarters in Minneapolis and all six of its regional offices around the country.

"We are committed to stewardship of our environment," says Tom Gunkel, president and chief operating officer of Mortenson. "We reflect that commitment by serving customers who share that same interest, many of whom are directly responsible for bringing new renewable energy projects to life. Now, through our agreement with Community Energy, we are becoming customers of our own customers. It's the right thing to do - we hope others in our industry follow suit."
