Sky Harvest Windpower Corp., based in Vancouver, British Columbia, has installed additional meteorological study equipment on Crown land adjacent to a project proposed by Vancouver-based Keewatin Windpower Corp. The equipment will enable Keewatin and Sky Harvest to increase the size of the proposed Matador project in Saskatchewan from 50 MW of capacity to more than 150 MW. A 60-meter meteorological study tower and sonic detection and ranging equipment have been installed at the site.

With the increase in size of this project and a Sky Harvest project west of Birsay, the two companies plan to develop more than 300 MW of wind power in southwest Saskatchewan. Keewatin says it played the lead role in negotiating the terms of an agreement to use Crown land for the project and has acquired and reserved the funds for all pre-development work on the site.
