Michigan-based utility Consumers Energy has awarded Duke Energy Renewable Services a long-term service contract for its 105 MW Cross Winds Energy Project, which is under construction in Tuscola County, Mich.

Duke Energy Renewable Services will provide construction, commissioning, operations, maintenance, and remote monitoring services. The project features 62 GE 1.7 MW turbines and is expected to begin commercial operation in November.

Duke Energy Renewable Services adds it has also had a long-term contract since 2012 with another of the utility’s projects, the Lake Winds Industrial Wind Plant near Ludington, Mich. The company, an organization resulting from Duke Energy's 2012 acquisition of Minnesota-based Outland Energy Services, says it has experience operating nearly 4 GW of wind assets.
