Nordex SE has received a contract from wpd europe GmbH for the delivery and installation of 11 N117/3000 Generation Delta turbines for the Makikangas wind farm.

According to Nordex, the wind farm is being built on the west coast of Finland close to the town of Pyhajoki at a site with an annual average wind speed of approximately 8 m/sec. The 3 MW wind turbines have a hub height of 141 meters and rotor sweep of 10,715 square meters, which Nordex claims helps generate the greatest possible electricity yield. Because the site experiences periods of extremely low temperatures, the company will be supplying the turbines in the cold-climate version.
