WESCO Wind LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Star Distributed Energy, has started construction on the Sibley Wind Farm, a 20 MW project located in Sibley County, Minn.

The project is jointly owned by WESCO and Sibley Wind Substation LLC, a partnership of local property owners and investors. This is one of seven projects under development by WESCO, after selling six projects totaling 1.4 GW to Apex Wind in 2009.

The project has a 20-year power purchase agreement with Minnesota Municipal Power Agency and is expected to begin generating electricity in the third quarter of 2014.

CarstensenEnergy Contracting Inc. is handling the construction and balance of plant services.
