Gov. Jay Inslee, D-Wash., is among the dignitaries celebrating the economic and environmental benefits provided by the 105 MW Palouse Wind Farm, located in northern Whitman County, Wash.

According to First Wind, the project's owner and operator, Palouse has brought significant revenue to the local community during construction and through long-term tax revenues.

First Wind says Palouse is the largest renewable energy facility in Whitman County with enough capacity to generate power the homes of about 30,000 customers of Avista, which is purchasing the output under a 30-year power purchase agreement.

The wind farm has generated more than 150,000 MWh since its start of commercial operations in December 2012, First Wind notes.
