Massachusetts Clean Energy Center (MassCEC) CEO Alicia Barton has announced $924,233 in grants that will fund six clean energy job training programs for low- and moderate-income individuals across Massachusetts.

Of the programs receiving funding, two have a specific focus on offshore wind energy:

- $250,000 for the New Bedford Economic Development Council’s Bridge to Greener Futures project. The program will provide low-income youth with skills that lead to careers in clean energy, with an emphasis on offshore wind. MassCEC notes it is currently overseeing the construction of the a marine commerce terminal in New Bedford equipped to serve as a staging area for offshore wind projects.

- $50,000 for the Northeast Offshore Renewable Energy Training Program in Cape Cod. MassCEC says the program will implement the WindSkill BZEE curriculum, which will train workers looking for employment in the offshore wind industry. The program will include training at the Massachusetts Maritime Academy, internships and hands-on experience.
