GL Garrad Hassan says it has acted as technical adviser to Mitsubishi Corp. on its recent acquisition of a 49% stake in the BorWin1 and BorWin2 German offshore high-voltage, direct-current (HVDC) links from TenneT Holding BV.

GL Garrad Hassan provided the due-diligence assessment of the BorWin assets, as well as follow-on support to the Mitsubishi team for the acquisition of the stake in the offshore HVDC transmission assets, which represent 1.2 GW of electrical connection capacity available for German offshore wind farms. The links use technology provided by ABB and Siemens.

TenneT will retain majority ownership and continue to operate the transmission assets.
