North American Windpower: Strategic Marine Delivers Offshore Installation Vessel

Strategic Marine, a shipbuilder operating in Singapore and Vietnam, has delivered the Njord Curlew - a crew transfer and service vessel - to Njord Offshore, a U.K. fleet operator that specializes in supply services for the offshore wind energy sector.

This is the third of eight vessels that will be used for Njord Offshore. The eight vessels, to be deployed by Madliena Shipping (Jersey) Ltd., are 21-meter 15DWT crew transfer catamarans powered by MTU engines of 965 bhp each at 2,250 rpm, for speeds up to 26 knots.

The decks include multiple lash-down points for cargo, and the decks can fit a 10-foot container, if required. Other features include a 6.5-foot knuckle crane, a removable A-frame and a 40-meter deck reel fuel transfer system.

Each vessel, with a crew of four, can accommodate 12 passengers and provide showers, multimedia capacity and a full galley.
