Bhoruka Power Corp.'s 25.5 MW wind farm, which uses 17 GE 1.5-77 wind turbines, has entered commercial operation, GE has announced.

The project, located 70 km from Hubli, India, represents the first installation of GE's 1.5-77 turbine in India. In addition to supplying the wind turbines, GE operates and maintains the wind farm.

Assembled at GE's manufacturing facility in Pune, the wind turbines for the Yelisurur project are designed especially for India's low wind speeds. GE says it is setting up the Pune facility to develop localized products and solutions suited to Indian customers across GE’s various businesses throughout the country.
