Marubeni Corp. says it has completed a transaction to acquire an economic interest in a wind project owned by EDF Renewable Energy.

Under the contract, Marubeni will acquire a 50% interest in the 205.5 MW Lakefield Wind Project, which is located in Jackson County, Minn. The project has a 20-year power purchase agreement with Indianapolis Power & Light and entered commercial operation in October 2011.

The Lakefield Project will be Marubeni's second wind project investment in the North American market - the first was the Raleigh Wind Energy Centre Project in Ontario, which Marubeni joined in 2010 - and its first in the U.S.
